This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Sterry of Asling Street Brighton in the Colony of Victoria Widow
After payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Zillah Newton the wife of Henry Newton of Collingwood in the said Colony Draper the sum of one hundred pounds to my son Samuel Stephen Sterry now of Brighton aforesaid the sum of eighty five pounds to my son Henry George Sterry the sum of fifty five pounds to my son Robert Sterry of Brighton aforesaid the sum of twenty five pounds together with all my household furniture and effects to my granddaughter Zillah Newton of Collingwood aforesaid the sum of twenty five pounds to my grandson Sydney Newton of the same place the sum of five pounds to my grand-daughter Zillah Elizabeth Sterry the sum of ten pounds to my grandson William Sterry the sum of thirty pounds (these are the children of my late son William J Sterry) to my daughter-in-law Elizabeth Jane Sterry the wife of my son Robert Sterry aforesaid the sum of ten pounds and to my friend James Duley of 2 Marlborough Road Old Kent Road London England the sum of five pounds. And I direct that if my estate should be insufficient to pay all the above sums in full than any amount required for payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be deducted from the sums left to my own children and in proportion to the sums bequeathed to them. And I hereby appoint Samuel Pond Simmonds of Brighton aforesaid House and Land Agent executor of this my Will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fourteenth day of January 1889. This is a Codicil to my last Will and Testament bearing date 14th January 1889 and I direct it may be taken as part thereof. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Robert Sterry the sum of fifty five pounds directed by my Will to be given to my son Henry George Sterry. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety (1890). Signed Elizabeth Sterry.
